Week of Sep 28

Highlight of the week.

Students participated in  our Orange Shirt Day for indigenous  rights and showed their support through activities and discussion about the rights of all citizens in our community.

LA -In LA students continued to work with adjectives and adverbs to develop their sentences. Students created a paragraph  about Terry Fox through the use of a web, created by them, to aid in organizing their writing. They also used this idea in developing their details through writing about fantastical creatures. The focus was on good sentence structure and adding specific supporting details.

Math- We continued our focus on place value concepts as well as patterning. Students have worked with increasing and decreasing patterns through pictures and numbers to gain a deeper understanding of how patterns develop.

Science- Our study of animals continue as we have looked at the major animal classifications and how specific characteristics place creatures in a determined place. Students have also begun a research project about an animal of their choice. They will gather basic information and represent their findings in a poster.

Social- We have begun to wrap up our study of mapping and will begin to examine the four countries as our focus this year. This study will be viewed through the lens of how "Quality of Life" is exhibited in these countries. This is our main theme as it ties in with the other focus which is Global Citizenship.
