Week of Nov. 23-27

Here is this week's homework.

Highlight of the week.

This week we began working on our next story which focuses on snow creatures.

Our week's learning included:

LA- The students have taken their skills and strategies and have begun to create their next story. Our work on using juicy vocabulary, creating amazing story beginnings, showing character emotion and expanding our ideas through detailed elaboration will all be included in this adventure.

Math- We continued our work on adding 3 digit numbers with regrouping and have now moved on to subtracting 2 digit numbers with regrouping in the tens place.

Social- We spent time investigating the climate in Peru and its effects on the lives of the people. We compared it to our climate to see the similarities and differences.

Science- We spent some time this week investigating individual interests. We then worked as a group to develop and answer questions pertaining to their topic of interest. From this the group created a fact card to display in our hallway to share their findings.

Here is the homework for this week.

Week of Nov 9th.

Highlight of the week.

The Grade Three classes participated in the Remembrance Day Assembly for our school. It was a wonderful acknowledgement of the values of respect and peace that they shared with the school.

This week we focussed on...

LA- We continued investigating great story beginnings. We have shifted our focus to starting with a great question or thought and secondly a descriptive beginning that describes a scene. These different beginnings will allow students to explore several ways to begin a story as we progress towards a completed story.

Math- Addition with 2 digit and 3 digit numbers was a focus this week. We have moved into regrouping in the tens place and will progress to regrouping into the hundreds place next week.

Social Studies- We are exploring how the citizens of Peru live in the different geographical regions in Peru.

Science- We are continuing to complete our research posters as well as looking at some specific examples of the life cycles of some animals. This week we discussed the frog.

Hello Le Roi Daniels!

Although it may be dreary, grey and gloomy outside, at Le Roi Daniels we are always cheerful and full of brightness.

On Monday November 16, we are going to bring colour and joy to our school  by having a casual day where students can wear ANY colour of the rainbow.

This is one way to show our joy and remember we have a “ RAINBOW OF POSSIBILITIES” in our school.

Be as creative as you would like!

Week of Nov 2nd.

It was an interesting week, that's for sure. After our return, it was great to see everybody and get back to the classroom.

Some updates for next week.

Formal uniforms are to be worn on Monday and Tuesday as our Remembrance Day Virtual Assembly will take place. The grade three students participated in this assembly and their performance can be seen in a video to be sent out to all parents on Monday. As a school we will watch the Remembrance Day Video at 10:45 on Tuesday.

LA- students began work on creating interesting beginnings to story writing. We focussed on using dialogue and action this week.

Math- students continued their centre work and are preparing to look at adding 2 digit and 3 digit numbers next week. Ww focussed on mental math to quickly answer those basic fact questions as it is key in developing efficiency when adding larger numbers.

Social- students continue to investigate the landforms in Peru to get a sense of how people adapt to the land to meet their needs.

Science- students are nearing the completion of their research projects as they finalized their information gathering and now are working at presenting their facts in a neat, organized and creative manner.
