Sunday September 26th

Remember it's picture day on Monday!

In our learning this week,

LA-students continue to develop their writing skills focussing on proper sentence structure including recognizing parts of speech. We used these ideas in writing about Terry Fox this week.

Math- students are working on developing their number sense, writing numbers, comparing and ordering numbers.

Social - The students were lucky to participate in the Teacher's Pet presentation that gave a great overview for the 4 countries we will study this year.

Science- We continue to investigate animals and are comparing and contrasting them based on their characteristics.

Here is this weeks's homework.

Here's what we did this week.

LA- Students continued to develop their writing skills by focussing on proper sentence structure and creating sentences that are more detailed. They have incorporated this into paragraph writing for their All About Me project. We also read the story Pass it On, and the students created decorative hearts in art and discussed how they can pass on positive qualities to others. We then wrote about this to include with our hearts.

Math- Representing numbers in a variety of ways through place value concepts continued to be a focus. We completed activities and played some games to reinforce this concept.

Science- We have been looking at classifying animals based on specific characteristics associated with each of the major categories. This week we have been focusing on mammals.

Social- Our investigation of discovering What is Quality of Life? began with activities associated with needs and wants and how this is reflected in people's lives.

                                                                   Twonies for Terry.

Our Terry Fox run is on Thursday September 23rd. A donation would be appreciated for this event to support this great cause. Thank You.

We are thrilled and excited that our school has been adopted by Chapters Chinook! From September 13th to October 3rd, this store is going to fundraise on our behalf through donations done directly at the Chapters Chinook location. We’re also going to be raising funds to support our library through the direct fundraising page, located below. Please spread the work by sharing this link with family and friends.

Our school is going to receive every dollar raised to support our library and receive an additional 30% discount off books when we shop at Indigo & Chapters program donations. These funds will go long way to bringing more diverse and inclusive picture books to our classrooms.

Please help us by showing your support for our library and our school community! We look forward to surprising the staff and children at Le Roi Daniels School with all the new library books this year!  Thank you for your continued support.

Thank you!
