What we did this week.

LA - We continued to complete our story
      - revising our writing
      - beginning finished product
Completed read aloud of "I am Human" 
      - worked on creating a booklet about being thankful

Math - We are continuing our focus on using the 4 major operations to solve problems. 
        - using strategies of drawings, creating lists and connecting with mathematical equations.

Science - We continued to test materials and designs to see how they support weight and maintain their structure. The focus has been on arches, beams and stable bases.

Social - We continued our study on Tunisia, looking at the different regions and the characteristics of each.

                                                     



 Week of February 15


Here is this week's homework.

This week we worked on:

LA -finishing our latest stories and beginning the revisions.
      - We created Friendship Soup where the students discussed and wrote about qualities that enable us to have good friendships.
       -We have begun cursive writing using the common shape of letters as a format for sequencing.
       - The students continued work on their novel studies.

Math - We have been focussing on using the 4 operations to solve story problems as well as to create story problems of their own. Understanding the link between the wording of problems and the associated operation that goes with it.

Science - We have been examining the concepts of testing materials and designs to compare them for strength.
      - We have developed a method of experimenting which is fair and will accurately give us repeatable results. - The Scientific Method
      -We have tested the arch and beam structures and compared the properties of each.




Social - We are looking at Tunisia and have examined its geography and location.
